Hello CREW VIEW readers!
I'd like to introduce both myself, as the new managing editor, and the new direction we'll be taking with the VIEW.
I feel that the saying "it takes a village" applies not only to our families but to our jobs as well: our strengths lie in our networks. While I have been in this industry for over 15 years-working my way up to senior management in some of the Bay Area's most recognized civil engineering firms specializing in land development-I can say that I did not get here alone. I value my colleagues (male and female) who have helped me grow and get to where I am today.
I have been a CREW Silicon Valley member for the past three years and likewise have treasured all of the relationships-personal and professional-that I have gained from it. CREW has been at the heart of my networking family for the past few years, and the friends I have made through CREW been the springboard for new business and other steps in my career.
As for the VIEW, it has been a well-received publication, read by many over the years. But with recent changes to its formatting and the move further into the digital age, we had to brainstorm what would come next. Our Bay Area Communications Committee put our heads together and realized we still wanted to provide valuable information to our members about the latest innovations, policies, and issues-but we also wanted a fresh experience for the readers.
With that said, I am excited to introduce the CREW VIEW blog! Throughout the year we will be posting articles every other week to each Bay Area CREW chapter's website, featuring information, news, and ideas from all of our Bay Area CREW members. The hope is that this will make the articles more accessible and shareable on social media. At the end of each year, we will compile a PDF of the previous year's articles (with photos) in a more magazine-type format for the archives and for members to print if desired.
Additionally, we're planning on also making the article submission process more accessible to our members, with a place on each chapter's website where any member can submit an article for posting. We will be providing 3-5 topics each year for members to submit articles on; however, if there is an article you're interested in posting that's off-topic, that's fine too.
I look forward to all of our members' participation on this new journey. We want to hear everyone's experiences in and knowledge about the industry.
I hope everyone is as excited as I am about the new CREW VIEW blog!
