President’s Message

July 9, 2021

Dear CREW SV Community:

One of my favorite things about our chapter is that there are so many ways to get involved. Whether it’s serving on a committee, assisting at an event, hosting a happy hour, nominating someone for our awards, or moderating a panel discussion, there’s a spot for your skills and interests somewhere in our organization.

Which is why I’m so excited about our program on July 13. Our membership director Leigh Knight has put together an event you won’t want to miss. In addition to our inspiring speaker, Jennifer Cassetta, you’ll hear from chapter leaders about ways to plug in and share your talents on our committees. Please join us, either in-person or online.

Here are some other tidbits I’m excited to share with you this month:

It’s official! Our annual Wine and Awards summer party is on! The event will take place Aug. 18 at the newly renamed PayPal Park in San Jose, home of the San Jose Earthquakes. This event is all about networking, wine (of course), and celebrating women and emerging leaders in our industry. We’ll be announcing our CREW Silicon Valley chapter award winners, and recognizing the participants in this year’s Rising Leaders mentorship program. Stay tuned for more details – and make sure to keep the date clear. Sponsorship opportunities are available.

Speaking of awards: There’s still time to get your nominations in… and now we have prizes! Anyone who nominates will be entered to win one of two $100 Amazon gift cards and two free tickets to Wine and Awards. It’s simple and quick to nominate – and self-nominations are encouraged. Some new categories will make this year extra special.

Foundation update: Do you know what CREW Network Foundation is all about? This arm of CREW Network provides college scholarships to future female leaders; heads up the industry-leading research we’re known for; and supports our career outreach initiatives to women and girls.

I hope you’ll consider making a tax-deductible donation today. You’ll also help us meet our Chapter Challenge. The Challenge includes a $1,000 “organization donation” from our chapter; an individual donation from 100% of the Board; and 50% of our chapter’s members giving an individual donation.

We’re accomplished the first two: Now we just need a few more chapter members to donate individually by the end of August and ensure our chapter is recognized at the CREW Network Convention, Sept. 28-39 in Las Vegas. If you donate $50 or more, you will receive the new CREW SV “bling” pin!

We want your tour ideas! Our Morgan Hill Tour on June 24 was a huge success!! Special thank you to the City of Morgan Hill and Edith Ramirez for being such amazing hosts. (Check out the photos!) The event got some of us thinking – let’s do more tours! Do you have an idea for a project walk-through that would interest our membership?  We’re looking for new developments, innovative renovations, or exciting corporate interiors – ideally with a CREW-member connection, but it’s not required. Please reach out to me at the email below with your ideas.

Finally… We want to continue to recognize the deals and partnerships that CREW members do with each other. When you team up with another CREW member on a project, deal, or business venture, let us know right here! We may feature you in an upcoming e-news!
